The winning mechanics were recognized and felicitated by Castrol at an event held in the three cities.
In a bid to upskill and recognize automotive mechanics from independent workshops in Saudi Arabia, Castrol launched the Castrol Master Mechanic Contest in Jeddah in May.
The competition which lasted over a month and a half, included training of the mechanics by professional trainers specialized in automotive skills’ development as well as practical and theoretical assessment.
A unique element of this program was a wellness check for all the participating mechanics conducted by some of the top hospitals in the Kingdom. Health tips were also shared with the participants.
Haitham Badaoui, CEO of Al-Khorayef Company, said: “This is a great initiative undertaken by Castrol to recognize and reward the mechanic community. The Castrol Master Mechanic Contest aims to positively impact mechanics that work under tough conditions but are often not as well appreciated as other professions. By sharing the latest technology and skills associated with automobile industry, the contest keeps the mechanics updated in an industry where technology is changing at an extraordinary pace.”
All 1,500 mechanics benefited from the program and learnt from all aspects of the contest. The winners were selected by independent judges.
Rick Capoccia, managing director, Castrol Saudi Arabia, said: “Castrol is committed to providing the marketing and technology leadership in the lubricants industry in the Kingdom. We understand that the mechanics do not always receive the recognition and respect that they so well deserve and hence we decided to launch this program which will provide a platform for the mechanics to showcase their knowledge and skills and at the same time keep them updated on the latest trends and technologies in the automotive as well as the lubricants industry."
