The benchmark DAX index at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday went down by 1.03 percent.
The DAX index went down by 103.01 points to 9906.07 points on Monday, a decrease rarely seen during the latest one to two weeks.
The German industrial production declined in May, leaving the average output in the second quarter 1.5 percent below the average in the first quarter.
The German insurance giant Allianz SE gained 0.76 percent and topped the list of risers. The software company SAP SE went up by 0.35 percent. Henkel AG & Co. KGaA Vz, a Duesseldorf-based comopany providing home care, personal care, and adhesives, sealants and surface treatment, was the last one among the DAX shares that gained on Monday, up by 0.07 percent.
The utility company RWE AG St lost 2.91 percent, followed on the list of fallers by Deutsche Boerse AG, HeidelbergCement AG, the chemical company LANXESS AG and carmaker Daimler AG, down by 2.89 percent, 1.97 percent, 1.85 percent and 1.65 percent respectively.
The turnover stood at a normal level of 2.32 billion euros (around 3.15 billion U.S. dollars).
