Head of Egypt's Bourse Mohamed Omran left here Sunday for Makkah, at the invitation of Umm al Qura University, to take part in the first International Conference on Islamic Banking and Finance.
The two-day conference will be attended by World Bank senior vice president as well as a galaxy of heads and representatives of major international banking and financing institutions, a top which are Merrill Lynch, Standard & Poor's and Islamic Development Bank.
Chicago and Harvard universities representatives will be present at the meeting as well.
Head of bourse, Omran, will preside over a plenary session on “Efficiency and Financial Stability of Islamic Banking and Finance", Egypt's bourse said in a statement to MENA.
Meanwhile, Omran underlined the need to have a framework to ensure the sustainable growth of Islamic banking.
Representatives of Islamic Development Bank, the Central Bank of US and other institutions will take part in the plenary session.
