Indonesian shares closed higher by 23.76 points, or 0.44 percent, to a level of 5,386.08 on Wednesday.

Some 283,154 transactions were booked, involving 6.97 billion shares worth 8.05 trillion rupiah (605.26 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers led losers 214 to 105 with 82 remaining stagnant.
