Nikkei ended up 2.88 percent Friday on a weaker yen amid hopes for global economic recovery. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average advanced 305.78 points from Thursday to 10,926.65. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 19.47 points, or 2.17 percent, to 917.09. Paper and tire makers as well as chemical companies led the gainers in percentage terms. The turnover was about 2,017.8 billion yen (about 22.30 billion U.S. dollars).
