Nikkei closed higher on Wednesday as exporters gained over the weak yen. The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average rose 79.88 points, or 0.87 percent, to end at 9,222.52, its highest closing level since Sept. 19. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 4.97 points, or 0.65 percent, to 767. 01. Rubber products makers, carmakers and steelmakers were the main winners, while the real estate, consumer finance and warehouse sectors were the losers. The turnover was about 1,101.1 billion yen (about 13.44 billion U.S. dollars).
