Nikkei closed 0.90 percent lower Friday as strong yen hurts exporters. The 225-issue average lost 79.55 points, or 0.90 percent, to 8, 757.60, its lowest close since mid-October. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 4.61 points, or 0.63 percent, to 730.74. Decliners included utilities, rubber products makers and mining companies, while shares of the airline, sea transport, and fishery and forestry industries posted gains. The turnover was about 933.4 billion yen (about 11.74 billion U. S. dollars).
