Philippine shares closed 1.09 percent higher on Friday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 76. 72 points to 7,098.81. The all-share index went up by 49.71 points, or 1.24 percent, to 4,056.08.

Trading volume reached 1.47 billion shares worth 11.26 billion pesos (241.09 million U.S. dollars). There were 129 gainers, 46 losers while 40 stocks closed flat.
