Qatar Exchange index dropped 50.87 points (0.60%) this week, closing at 8,393.92 points when trading adjourned for the weekend Thursday. The trading value was QR 993,766,638.26 compared to QR 1,392,697,664.73 last week, a decrease by 28.64%. The trading volume was 24,737,684 shares compared to 36,747,041 shares last week, a decrease by 32.68%. The number of transactions was 16,988 as against 22,517 last week, a drop by 24.55%. The market capitalization fell by 0.92% to reach QR 440,207,381,220.10 as compared to QR 444,279,710,178.39 at the end of previous week. Of the 42 listed companies 10 ended this week higher while 32 dropped. Industries Qatar led the trading value during this week accounting for 18.86% of the total trading value, followed by Masraf Al Rayan with 18.67% and Commercial Bank accounted for 9.28%. The banking and financial sector led trading value accounting for 47.39% of the total traded value. Services sector accounted for 31.00%, industrial sector accounted for 20.88% and insurance sector accounted for 0.72%. Services sector led trading volume with 44.82% of the total traded volume. Banking financial sector accounted for 44.49%, industrial sector accounted for 10.27% and insurance sector accounted for 0.42%. Services sector led the number of traded transactions with 43.78% of the total. Banking and financial sector accounted for 38.62%, industrial sector accounted for 16.58% and insurance sector accounted for 1.03%.
