Shares soared Thursday on the Seoul stock exchange on hopes that German lawmakers would approve bailout measures for the eurozone, according to dpa. The benchmark Kospi index jumped 46.2 points, or 2.7 per cent, to close at 1,769.29. Advancing issues outnumbered losers 611 to 229. The main index of the technology-heavy Kosdaq market rose 9.06 points to 443.26, up 2.1 per cent. On currency markets, the US dollar was quoted at 1,173.50 South Korean won, after trading at 1,171.20 on Wednesday.
