Tokyo shares closed higher Friday morning, with the Nikkei index hitting a roughly one-month intraday high. 
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 189.74 points, or 1. 16 percent, from Thursday to 16,575.63. 
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 11.59 points, or 0.88 percent, to 1, 322.75.
