Tokyo shares ended the trading Friday slightly higher on the Bank of Japan's policy of maintaining its ultra-loose monetary policy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average inched up 60.12 points, or 0. 29 percent, from Thursday at 20,724.56.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 5.61 points, or 0.34 percent, to 1,679. 19.
Gainers were led by insurance, metal products, textiles and apparel issues.
The turnover was about 2,819.9 billion yen (about 22.60 billion U.S. dollars).
