Tokyo shares opened lower Tuesday on a stronger yen and overnight poor performances in the U.S. market.
At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 124.42 points, or 0.81 percent, from Monday to 15,255.02.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 10.34 points, or 0.81 percent, to 1, 269.53.
