Japanese shares ended the morning trading session of the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Friday lower. 
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index ended the morning 0.40 percent, or 65.45 points, lower at 16,411.39, while the broader Topix index of all first-section shares was off 0.38 percent, or 5.02 points, at 1,301.98.
