Tokyo stocks fell Monday after a disappointing employment report stoked concerns of a slowdown in the US economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended down 37.10 points, or 0.19%, from Friday at 19,397.98.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 3.45 points, or 0.22%, lower at 1,560.71, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
Major decliners included glass and ceramics, shipping and insurance issues.
