Tokyo - XINHUA
Tokyo stocks rose from the bell on Tuesday as the yen's retreat against the U.S. dollar coupled with a rebound in prices for crude oil spurred early buying.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 22.41 points, or 0.13 percent, from Monday to 16,672.98.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 2.91 points, or 0.22 percent, to 1,308.44.
Early issues that advanced comprised miscellaneous product, marine transportation and mining-related stocks.
