Tokyo stocks

Tokyo stocks opened slightly lower in early trading Monday as investor sentiment was stifled by declines on Wall Street and the U.S. dollar's fall against the yen before the weekend.

At 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 75.28 points, or 0.36 percent, from Friday to 20,649.28. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange shed 5.15 points, or 0.31 percent, at 1,674.04.

Decliners were led by mining, rubber products and steel products.
