Tokyo stocks rose Wednesday

Tokyo stocks rose Wednesday, rebounding from early losses on growing optimism over the Japanese economy and the performance of domestic firms.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average ended up 139.88 points, or 0.71 percent, from Tuesday at 19,764.72. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange finished 1.94 points, or 0.12 percent, higher at 1,604.21, according to Japan's (Kyodo) News Agency.
