Kuwait City - KUNA
The US dollar was unchanged against the Kuwaiti dinar on Monday, trading at KD 0.281 per dollar and the euro also stayed at KD 0.378, according to the daily bulletin of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK). The bulletin showed the pound sterling trading down at KD 0.443, the Japanese yen unchanged at KD 0.003, and the Swiss franc also unchanged at KD 0. 303. This comes amid anticipation of important economic data from the US, most importantly figures on Q4-2012 GDP and the government employment report, with optimistic expectations regarding some economic data which could increase demand for the US greenback. The federal bank is also meeting Tuesday amid hopes it would declare a specific deadline for quantitative easing measures, which would boost the dollar against other currencies. As for Europe, information is also awaited on the health of the region\'s economies, particularly after last year\'s recession. While some remarks by President of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi have expressed optimism, the latest forecasts by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) indicated continued weak economic growth in 2013.
