U.S. stocks closed mostly lower on Wednesday, with energy weighing,as oil prices fell sharply. 
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 31.98 points, or 0.2%, to 18034.77, after rising as much as 97 points earlier in the session. 
The S&P 500 declined 1.25 points, or less than 0.1%, to 2125.77. 
The Nasdaq Composite rose 18.52 points, or 0.4%, to 5173.77.
