U.S. stocks eked out modest gains after seesaw trading Friday as investors paid close attention to an annual realigning of Russell indexes with light economic calendar.
The Dow edged up less than 0.1 percent, and the S&P 500 rose 0. 2 percent while the Nasdaq increased 0.4 percent.
