US stocks closed on a record high in more than a year on Monday, with the market cheering on the seemingly contradictory forces of stronger economic news via jobs data and the view that interest rates would stay lower for longer.
The S&P 500 closed 7 points higher at 2,137, surpassing the previous all-time record set back in May 2015.
Dow Jones rose 0.4% to close at 18,277, and the Nasdaq rose 0.4% to close at 4,989.
