A Chinese-funded agricultural park has been inaugurated in Banteay Meanchey province in northwestern Cambodia. Banteay Meanchey provincial governor Kousom Saroeuth and Xiao Yi, head of international relations office of the Department of Agriculture of China's Yunnan province, jointly unveiled the Friendship Park of Agricultural Science and Techniques in Malai district on Tuesday. Xiao Yi said the agricultural park, which was started to construct in 2012, covers the area of 10 hectares. It is consisted of the facilities for agricultural training, laboratory and nursery. She said the Department of Agriculture of Yunnan province also provided agricultural machinery and sent Chinese experts to train Cambodian officials at the park. "The purpose of the establishment of the park is to assist Cambodia in agricultural development and to contribute to further enhancing friendly relations between China and Cambodia," she said. Kousom Saroeuth expressed profound thanks to China for helping to develop agricultural sector, which is the main source of incomes for households in the province. Yunnan established friendly ties with Banteay Meanchey in December 2011. Last year, Yunnan province donated 200 agricultural engines to the province for agricultural work.
