Croatia's populations was expected to decline from 4.24 million in 2015 to 3.55 million,or 16.2 percent down, by 2050, Croatian media reported on Wednesday.
The report quoted UN 2015 Revision of World Population Prospects as saying, population in the country was estimated to go down to 3.97 million by 2030, to 3.55 million by 2050 and to only 2.61 million by 2100, meaning the population could shrink by 686,000 people or 16.2 percent by 2050.
Meanwhile the country is also expected to experience the aging of its population, the report said, adding 46.9 percent of Croatia's population would be over 60 by 2050, while people over 60 make up 30.7 percent in 2015.
Life expectancy projected to rise to 83 years by 2050, while it is 77 years now, the reported said.
