Cairo - MENA
Egypt's cabinet has agreed to allow exporting rice until August 2015, said Trade and Industry Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour on Thursday.
The government has set a number of conditions to make sure that the Egyptian markets' needs of rice were met before allowing exporting surpluses, the minister said in a statement.
Abdel-Nour added that the decision is meant to achieve the interests of farmers, consumers and the state's public treasury.
