The State Audit Bureau indicated in a statement it issued on Wednesday that its oversight role over public funds allowed it to ensure the accuracy of all financial requirements for public projects in conjunction with other government entities such as the central tender committee and the fatwa and legislation department. The number of projects for fiscal 2012-2013 which the bureau dealt with topped 2261 with an overall value of more than KD 7.8 billion, said the statement, noting that many of these projects fulfilled the country's aspiration for increased growth and development. Among these projects were importing gas turbines for Al-Sabbiya and Al-Zoar power stations, importing fresh water supply pipelines, building electricity relay stations for the ministry of electricity, said the statement. Other projects the state audit bureau oversaw in fiscal 2012-2013 involved the construction of the new Al-Sabah hospital, the Amiri hospital, Communicable diseases hospital, and Kuwait cancer center for the benefit of the ministry of health, said the statement, in addition to two housing projects in Jaber Al-Ahmad city and the northern Zoar power station. Among projects presented through the Amiri Diwan to be audited by the state audit bureau were the new Al-Jahra hospital, two court house complexes in Jahra and Farwaniya, and two cultural centers in Abdullah Al-Salem and Jaber Al-Ahmad areas, said the statement. Other projects the state audit bureau oversaw for various government agencies were building the headquarters for the public authority for investment, infrastructure work in the Al-Shedadiya and Sabah Al-Salem areas, building the headquarters for the ministry of awqaf and Islamic affairs, Hawali court house, department for criminal evidence, Kuwait institute for medical specialties, and building a complex to house offices of public prosecutors, said the statement.
