H.H. Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, today opened the office of the committee tasked with settlement of debts of citizens in Sharjah. Located on the Maliha-Kalba road, the building houses counters for males and females for receiving applications of defaulters and can even welcome persons with special needs. Applicants can also apply on line through the committee's website to save time and effort. After cutting the tradition red ribbon, Sheikh Sultan toured different facilities of the building and got first-hand information about the work mechanisms and services it provides to clients. He urged employees to be patient, merciful, cheerful and helpful to clients who need to feel the spirit optimism, hope and delight. He also called on them to maintain the highest degree of privacy, confidentiality and integrity when dealing with applicants to preserve human dignity and feelings. Sheikh Sultan has met with members of the committee who briefed him on progress of work and procedures they follow to assess cases. The ruler has approved settlement of debts of 700 cases recommended by the committee after they have satisfied essential requirements. Sheikh Sultan emphasised during the meeting that priority should be given to five categories; convicted inmates, wanted persons in financial-related cases, those who received court sentences and wanted by arrest warrant, those in debt and indebted deceased persons. The committee said that cases found to be involved in criminal offences including theft and deception will be referred court for prosecution.
