The US State Department said on Saturday that it regrets Israel’s move to impose economic sanctions against the Palestinians and emphasised the importance of economic cooperation with the Palestinian Authority (PA). Spokeswoman Jen Psaki said Israel’s regular transfers of tax revenues, which it collects on the PA’s behalf, and economic cooperation with the Authority, is “useful and important” to revive the Palestinian economy.An Israeli official announced on Thursday that Israel had introduced a set of punitive measures, including freezing tax money transfers, in response to the Palestinian leadership’s signing of 15 international conventions.
