The South Korean financial watchdog has stepped up its monitoring of a Chinese online payment service firm set to open a new type of offline service here on growing demand by Chinese tourists, officials said Thursday. Alipay, a non-bank Internet payment affiliate of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, provides services to Chinese shoppers buying goods from South Korean online shopping malls in partnership with South Korea's KG Inicis Co., an online payment service provider.
