Nakheel on Thursday signed contracts worth Dh43 million for two key projects on Palm Jumeirah. A Dh25-million contract for design of the Palm Mall, a 1.7 million sq ft retail complex, was awarded RSP Architects. Design work is due to finish by year-end, with construction starting early in 2013. The mall will open in 2014. The developer also awarded a contract for Dh18 million to Al Marwan Contracting for infrastructure work on Frond N of Palm Jumeirah. The work is expected to begin in the next few weeks and will take around five months to complete. It will pave the way for another 105 beachside properties on The Palm. Nakheel’s acting CEO Sanjay Manchanda said: “The Palm Mall will be major addition to the ever-growing number of facilities and attractions on our flagship development, and we are proud to engage RSP to design what will undoubtedly be a big draw for Palm residents and visitors. He added: “We are also delighted to partner with Al Marwan Contracting, who we know has the capability and commitment to complete the Frond N infrastructure work professionally and on time. Owners of plots on Frond N will soon be able to build their homes and enjoy living on one of the world’s most sought-after locations.” Al Marwan’s work includes roads network, traffic signage, street lighting, storm water drainage, vacuum sewerage, irrigation systems, potable water systems, electrical networks, telecommunication and gas networks. Al Marwan had previously worked on building the infrastructure for the Emirati Cluster at International City. The cluster was handed over recently.
