Permits for the construction of new houses dropped significantly from a year earlier in 2013 as did the building of new homes, the government said Tuesday, reaffirming the long and ongoing downturn in the country's construction market. The number of permits for new homes plunged 25 percent on-year to some 440,000 last year, according to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
