Brad Pitt filled in for his chickenpox-stricken wife Angelina Jolie on Monday at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film Unbroken.
The 50-year-old actor attended the event in an all-black ensemble along with three of the couple's six children, Maddox, 13, Pax, 11, and Shiloh, 8, as well as his parents William and Jane.
Unbroken is Jolie's second effort as director and tells the real story of Olympian Louis Zamperini, who was captured by the Japanese navy during WWII.
The 39-year-old actress announced in a YouTube clip Friday that she'd be missing a number of promotional events for the film because she has the chickenpox.
Jolie's Unbroken was recently criticized by Japan's nationalists because of her portrayal of the torture endured by Zamperini.
Starring Jack O'Connell as the Olympic runner, Unbroken opens in theaters Christmas Day.
