It's been 13 years since Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake showed up to the MTV Music Awards in matching denim ensembles, and on Sunday the former couple's getups were honored by one of the biggest pop stars of the moment -- Katy Perry.
The "Dark Horse" singer, 29, attended the 2014 MTV VMAs in an all-denim ensemble, which she later acknowledged was inspired by Spears. Perry walked the event's red carpet arm-in-arm with her "This Is How We Do" collaborator Riff Raff who also wore all denim à la Timberlake circa 2001.
The singer's Spears-inspired outfit come one day after the "Perfume" singer herself challenged Perry to "do her best impression" the night before. Later on, Perry expanded her moonman collection after winning the first award of the night, Best Female Video for "Dark Horse."
"We just want to say thank you so much," Perry said as she took the award from Snoop Dogg and Gwen Stefani. "We put a lot of time and effort and hard work into this song... Thank you KatyCats!"
