British singer Ed Sheeran sang to a moribund teen fan named Triona Priestley minutes before she died on Monday. The Dublin teen, who had been battling cystic fibrosis for years, told her friends and family that her final wish was to hear from her favorite singer, Sheeran. The term #SongForTri became a trending term Sunday night as friends and family members of the 15-year-old girl attempted to get Sheeran to pay attention to their message. Irish publication The Independent eventually joined the effort to contact the singer as the Twitter campaign failed to reach him. Priestley's brother told The Independent that he and his family wanted to thank the singer "and everyone who started and supported the #SongForTri campaign" for making his sister's wish come true. "What they gave us and her was a beautiful last moment together. Triona slipped into a sleep as Ed was singing to her and passed away shortly afterwards," he said. "So Ed Sheeran sang her to sleep. We would like to thank everyone who played their part in making that happen." Upon learning about the teen's death, Sheeran took to Twitter to express his condolences. Rest in peace Triona, so heartbreaking x— Ed Sheeran (@edsheeran) April 1, 2014
