A number of Egyptian stars have expressed their outrage over the transport of the body of late Algerian singer Warda to Algeria.  The body was reportedly moved inside Cairo Airport and then transferred to a military plane sent by Algerian President Abdel Aziz Boutaflika.  Warda’s coffin was placed among the cargo inside the airport and was then picked up by a forklift, jostling the contents and then placed inside the plane. Egyptian stars who were at the airport to bid the final farewell to the singer said that the coffin was treated as any other luggage or cargo, and that it was an insult to the late singer, whose body should have been handled with the utmost care. Mervat Ameen, belly dancer Dina, actor Mahmoud Yasin, and composer Farouq Al Sharnoubi were among the stars at the airport, who all said there should have been a more respectful way of treating the coffin, not like it was just another item to be shipped. Officials at the airport justified the manner in which the coffin of Warda was moved by saying that due to the minimal amount of time they had to place the coffin on the special plane sent by the Algerian President they were forced to use such means. According to the internet website MBC.net, upon its arrival to Algeria, a very prestigious funeral ceremony was held in honor of the late singer attended by Algerians from all walks of life. In addition, a number of Arab stars made it a point to attend the burial ceremony. The atmosphere at the burial ceremony was not a common one as many cried hysterically and others fainted not believing that the legendary singer has passed away. A number of people at the cemetery began chanting Warda’s last song “Mazal Waqifeen” (Still Standing), which she had sung especially for Algeria in celebration of 50 years of independence. Warda was buried at the same cemetery Algeria’s first President Ahmad Bin Billah, who passed away 40 days ago. It was revealed that thousands of people attended the burial ceremony and police were not able to control the scene. Warda’s coffin was wrapped with the Algerian flag.Warda passed away as a result of a sudden heart attack she encountered in her home in Cairo Egypt. From: albawaba
