Frank Darabont is no longer on-board to direct The Huntsman, the prequel to 2012's Snow White and the Huntsman.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed the filmmaker's departure due to unspecified, creative differences with unknown parties, but did not speculate about who might replace Darabont in the director's chair.
Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron are to reprise their roles of the Huntsman Eric and evil queen Ravenna in the prequel, but Snow White actress Kristen Stewart and the original film's director Rupert Sanders are not expected to return.
Sanders and Stewart made headlines when they had an affair, cheating on their respective partners Liberty Ross and Robert Pattinson, while promoting the first movie, which also featured Ross as the mother of a younger version of Stewart's character. All of the real-life relationships collapsed under the subsequent media scutiny.
Darabont is known for helming The Mist, The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. He also was a writer, director and producer on AMC's The Walking Dead.
