Actress, musician and talk-show host Queen Latifah is to preside over next month's Hollywood Film Awards ceremony, CBS announced Friday.
The event is to take place at the Hollywood Palladium Nov. 14.
"I'm honored to be a part of such a legendary awards show," Latifah said in a statement. "The Hollywood Film Awards have been a staple in the awards season for years, and I'm excited to be the first host to bring them to television."
"Queen Latifah is the real deal. She is a triple threat -- she can act, she can sing, she can dance -- she is beloved by audiences across multiple genres and she entertains millions of people every day," added Jack Sussman, executive vice president of specials, music and live events for CBS. "We look forward to having her as our host for the inaugural broadcast of the Hollywood Film Awards."
"Queen Latifah is a world-class entertainer," declared Carlos de Abreu, founder and executive producer of the prize presentation. "From film and music to television, her humor, quick wit and ability to entertain live audiences make her the perfect choice to host the Hollywood Film Awards."
