Jaycee Chan, son to kung fu action star Jackie Chan, was formally arrested Wednesday in Beijing on multiple drug charges after being found in possession of marijuana.
Jaycee was detained on Aug. 14 along with others as part of drug bust in the Chinese capital. He and Taiwanese movie star Ko Chen-tung tested positive for marijuana and authorities seized more than 100 grams of the substance from Chan's home. Ko was released from custody after two weeks.
After being detained, Jaycee was formally charged with "suspicion of allowing other people to consume drugs." The charge could put the 31-year-old in prison for a maximum of three years.
Jackie addressed his son's original detainment in August.
"Regarding this issue with my son Jaycee, I feel very angry and very shocked. As a public figure, I'm very ashamed. As a father, I'm heartbroken," he wrote on his blog.
The Rush Hour star added that his son would face consequences for his actions, but he will remain by his side as he faces the charges.
Chinese President Xi Jinping cracked down on drugs over the summer, calling for the obliteration of drug use by imposing harsh punishments on users and dealers.
