Natalie Morales is reportedly considering leaving Today.
The 42-year-old television host joined the morning program as a national correspondent in 2006, and was made a co-anchor in 2011. Sources told Page Six Morales is seeking other employment because of a power struggle with co-host Tamron Hall and NBC News president Deborah Turness.
"There's a lot of tension," the insider revealed. "Natalie and Tamron are competitive, and there was a big blowup in October between the two. Deborah has an issue with Natalie and has sided with Tamron. There has been zero communication between Deborah and Natalie for a long period of time."
One source claimed Morales' agent has started to actively investigate other opportunities for the host, but a different insider said they are letting other networks approach them. Morales reportedly has two years left on her contract with Today.
Executive producer Don Nash denied claims of a power struggle, and asserted Morales will continue to appear on the morning program in a statement to the publication.
"This is total nonsense," he declared. "As the Today show continues to gain momentum, it sounds like someone is trying to stir up trouble that doesn't exist. Natalie Morales is valued by everyone at the news division from the top down, and her future is with the Today show and NBC News."
