Samirah Saeed told an Egyptian daily that she never expected to win an African Music Award for her song “Be Winner.” The Moroccan singer said this was the reason that she was not present at the award function held in New York recently, where the song was chosen best song in North Africa. Saeed is the first Moroccan to ever win this award through fans’ vote. Saeed said that she had met with the music group “Fnaire,” who participated in the song in one of her musical concerts. She loved their style and composed two songs with them, one in English and one in a Moroccan accent. Currently, she is working on her upcoming album, and has started recording some songs for the album. Saeed said that she found it difficult to come up with new ideas for her album, but that she was keen on springing a surprise for her fans.
