Selena Gomez discussed her possible move to the Big Apple at the Los Angeles premiere of her new film, Rudderless, on Tuesday.
"Taylor [Swift] has been convincing me for months now," the 22-year-old actress told Access Hollywood. "I might be [moving]. I think that might be the next step for me," the 22-year-old said, adding that she would "love to maybe move to New York for a little while."
As for her next career move, Gomez said she would like to continue working on her blossoming acting career.
"People are now seeing me in a different light and I just kind of want to keep on that path because I love acting and I want to step out and challenge myself," she said.
"I'd rather just pick myself up and keep going. I am young... I've been talked about since I was 14 and I feel like I'm okay with just allowing myself to just keep going," Gomez said. "I'd rather just inspire people to just know that I would rather love what I do and just focus on that."
Gomez began her career in the entertainment business in 2002 as Gianna in Barney & Friends and rose to fame after lading the lead role in the Disney channel original series Wizards of Waverly Place. She played Alex Russo on the show from 2007 to 2012 at which point she launched her music career with the band Selena Gomez and The Scene. Gomez's first studio album, Stars Dance, was released in 2013 and debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200.
While speaking at the premiere of Rudderless, in which she co-stars alongside William H. Macy, Felicity Huffman and Billy Crudup, Gomez also talked about why she likes to "earn" her movie roles.
Rudderless opens in theaters Oct. 17.
