Teresa and Joe Giudice have reportedly grown distant since their sentencing.
The couple were sentenced to 15 and 41 months in federal prison, respectively, on multiple charges of fraud in early October. Teresa and Joe will serve their terms separately on account of their four daughters, and sources tell Us Weekly the impending jail time has put a strain on the couple's marriage.
"Teresa and Joe's emotional connection is fading," a family insider revealed. "Resentment is creeping in. There is an icy distance."
Teresa will be imprisoned first, while Joe remains at home with their children, aged 5 to 13. Teresa is the primary caretaker of the girls, and the source told the magazine Joe "hasn't shown interest" in learning his daughters' schedules. Although tension is high, a different insider said the couple will likely stay together.
"Splitting up would cause the kids turmoil," the source related. "She wouldn't bring them more harm."
Teresa and Joe Giudice came to fame on Bravo reality series The Real Housewives of New Jersey in 2009. Teresa will begin her sentence at a prison in Danbury, Conn., in January 2015.
