War Machine reportedly attempted suicide this week in a Las Vegas jail.
The 32-year-old MMA fighter was in his cell Tuesday night when an officer saw him sitting on the ground with his feet up on his bunk, law enforcement sources told TMZ. The officer called out to War Machine, and entered the cell when he received no response.
War Machine had tied a piece of linen around his neck, and attached the end to the leg of the bed. His face was purple when the officer cut the bind loose, and his breathing eventually became less labored. Officers found what appeared to be a suicide note nearby, and put the fighter on suicide watch in a medical isolation cell.
War Machine is awaiting trial for the alleged attempted murder of ex-girlfriend Christy Mack and her friend, Corey Thomas. The fighter is accused of beating Thomas at Mack's home August 8, and reportedly sent him away before beating her as well. The attack left Mack with 20 broken bones, missing teeth and a severely ruptured liver.
War Machine pleaded not guilty to 32 charges, including two counts of attempted murder, in September.
