Islamabad - KUNA
The government of Pakistan condemned the incident of a US drone strike that took place near the Miranshah area in North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan during the early hours of Saturday, which led to many causalities, said the Foreign Office.
In a press release by the Foreign Office, it said, "Pakistan regards such strikes as a violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity," adding that "as has been made clear on earlier occasions, these strikes have a negative impact on the Governmentآ’s efforts to bring peace and stability to Pakistan and the region." The strike in question was reported to have killed at least eight suspected militants by firing two missiles on a compound they were in at the Doga Madakhel village, around 36 kilometers west of North Waziristan's capital Miramshah. Earlier on Wednesday, at least twenty people were killed as an unmanned aircraft fired four missiles targeting a house and a vehicle in Dattakhel area of North Waziristan. The drone strike came at a time when the Pakistan military is mounting a major offensive in North Waziristan aimed at wiping out local and foreign militants.
