As many as 16 elements of Daesh terrorist group were killed during clashes with Peshmerga forces in western Tuz Khurmatu of Saladin Province in Iraq, security sources announced on Tuesday.
Daesh elements at the dawn of Tuesday carried out an attack using light and medium arms in addition to sniper fire on outposts affiliated to Peshmerga forces in al Zarka area at al Karma axis, Alsumaria news channel reported.
Fierce clashes took place between both sides, killing 12 Daesh elements and one from Peshmerga forces, it added.
Sources noted that a Daesh leader was among the dead.
