Six leading Daesh officials were killed during an attempt to infiltrate into northern Diyala, said Degla Operations Commander Lt General Mozher al Azawi on Monday.
A joint security force comprising elements from Degla operations and the popular popularization foiled the infiltration attempt, he added.
A manhunt was launched to arrest four others who managed to flee the scene.
Diyala province was liberated from Daesh militants in January 2015, after heavy fighting between the group and Iraqi army forces.
