Iraqi forces on Sunday stormed new districts in the western side of Mosul, Sky News reported.
No further details were revealed on the circumstances of the storming operations.
Earlier, the Iraqi Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF) announced that they have started operations to liberate Qairawan town close to the Syrian borders as part of operations to chase out Daesh militants.
The Iraqi PMF regained control over hundreds of villages in southwestern Mosul after clashes with the militants.
