At least 23 people, including 21 soldiers, were killed in clashes between rebels and Syrian troops.

At least 65 people were killed in shelling and clashes in different areas of Syria, Al Hurra Satellite TV reported.

Opposition Coordination Committees said the casualties included 12 children and nine women.

Meanwhile, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Damascus countryside and Ghouta came under shelling by the Syrian army which coincided with violent clashes with the opposition factions.

The shelling covered the areas of Homs countryside, Hama, Idlib, Deraa and Deir Ezzour.
