Syrian forces set up an outpost in the city of Aleppo's eastern neighborhood of Sakan

Regime forces managed to take control of nearly 60 percent of Daesh-held Aleppo's eastern districts, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said on Saturday.

As Syrian troops continue operation to retake the remaining parts of eastern Aleppo, they captured Bab Sharqi district, the UK-based group added.

The latest military progress paves the way for securing the road of new Aleppo International Airport.

Some 50,000 residents have fled Aleppo's eastern parts to the west since last Saturday.
