Geneva - Arab Today
The United Nations hopes to begin the first medical evacuations from eastern Aleppo in Syria on Friday, Senior Adviser to UN Special Envoy for Syria Jan Egeland said as quoted by Sky news.
Speaking at a briefing on the day of the humanitarian pause in Aleppo, Egeland said that it was unable to begin a humanitarian operation in the city on Thursday as it had not received a permission from all sides of the conflict for a medical evacuation.
"We believe we now have all of the green lights that we need both from the Russians and the government and from the armed opposition inside and we hope that the first medical evacuations can take place tomorrow," he said.
